An HVAC Professional Shares Tips for Cleaner Air in Your Home

|

HVAC Abilene, TX

If you are like most Americans, you spend 90 percent of your time indoors, with the HVAC unit running. This is even more of a reason to ensure that the air quality in your house is the best that it can be. For family members who suffer from allergies, these tips could also help relieve some of their symptoms.

We asked our HVAC professionals what they believed the most critical tips were for their customers, and here is what they had to say. They have shared tips that they believe are the best things to do to keep indoor air optimal and clean.

Tips for cleaner air in your home

Tip #1: Leave shoes by the door

Although it may seem like a small thing, it can be a big help. Leaving shoes by the door will significantly reduce the amount of dirt and allergens that can be tracked and spread throughout the home. Leaving them at the door eliminates this possibility.

Tip #2: Limit mold growing by reducing moisture

When it comes to mold spores, it is essential to remember that they float through the air inside your home. Keeping the indoor humidity inside the house under control by using a whole-home dehumidifier is excellent in preventing mold growth. For those with asthma, this can be a way to avoid asthma attacks as well.

Tip #3: Dust mites can cause allergies

Most people may not realize that dust mites can be the cause of allergies because they spread dust and allergens around. Having dust-proof covers on pillows and mattresses, along with washing bedding in hot water, is the best way to prevent the issue.

Tip #4: Do not use chemical cleaners when dusting

The HVAC professional always gets a strange look when they give this tip, but the science behind it is solid. By dusting without chemical cleaners, it can significantly reduce the number of pollutants that circulate in the home. Use a simple microfiber cloth and plain water instead of fancy chemical sprays and cleaners.

Tip #5: Keep clutter minimal

Clutter kept around the home can be an extra place for dust and grime to settle. It is much easier to keep the home dust-free by not giving it a place to land! Get rid of clutter, and use the time to organize and donate items that have not been used in a long time or have simply been collecting dust — literally.
